If your skin feels tight after showering, your shins feel rough or you want to reapply cream repeatedly, you may wonder whether to change products straight away. Before adding steps, review both washing and moisturising. A sustainable routine should also feel comfortable.

Start with the shower

Hot water and long showers can worsen dryness. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends warm water, showers of about 5–10 minutes, gentle cleansing and patting rather than rubbing dry.

Think through your actual habits. Is the water very hot? Do you spend extra time standing under it? Do you scrub for a squeaky-clean feeling? Do other tasks distract you before moisturising? These observations can help you make practical changes without buying several products at once.

When should I moisturise?

After gently patting off excess water, apply moisturiser while the skin is still damp. Reapply when needed. For very dry skin, AAD suggests considering a cream or ointment and choosing fragrance-free products, especially when skin is easily irritated.

Make the routine easy to repeat

  1. Prepare before showering. Keep a clean towel and your usual product within reach, stored as directed and protected from water.
  2. Notice your skin. Check for stinging, redness or broken areas. Avoid trying a new product on an irritated area.
  3. Apply as directed. Spread gently. Vigorous massage or mixing several formulas in your hand is unnecessary.
  4. Record changes. Note the name and start date when you change products, so you can describe them if discomfort develops.

This is a practical routine example, not a guarantee of the same result for everyone. If you already have a clinician’s skin care plan, follow it.

About CHUEN Calming & Moisturizing Cream

The 50 g jar is described on the packaging as a face and body moisturiser. Its role is the moisturising step after cleansing, unlike soap, which is rinsed away.

Before choosing, read the ingredients and directions on the actual pack. Check ingredients you have reacted to and consider scent and texture. General moisturiser advice does not mean that AAD or a doctor endorses CHUEN. The product name does not establish that this formula is fragrance-free.

If your skin is very dry, reactive or sensitive to fragrance, consider a fragrance-free formula as advised by your healthcare professional. Stop using a product that stings or irritates. Compare the different roles in our product guide.

When should I see a dermatologist?

If dryness continues despite changes, or products sting and irritate your skin, seek professional advice. Dryness can be associated with conditions that need assessment. Cosmetics should not replace treatment for a rash or skin disease.

Frequently asked questions

Can the jar and Soothing Cream replace each other?

They have different formulas and intended roles. Read each product’s directions rather than choosing on the word “cream” alone.

Is it suitable for everyone’s face?

The brand specifies face and body use, but suitability varies. Consider your skin and the ingredients. If you use prescribed skin treatment, ask before adding a product.

How many days until I see a result?

We do not have formula test results that support a guaranteed timeframe. Notice comfort and irritation. If symptoms do not improve, seek the cause rather than continually increasing the amount or number of products.
